Fire erupts in forests of Malakand and Muzaffarabad amid hot weather which causes huge blazes while facing difficulties to local rescue staff to control.
This is the forest next to my sister’s house in Lalror, Kotli Satyan. During Eid, our civilized tourists had a barbecue party here and left the forest burning on their return. The villagers could not control the fire.
With the increase in heat in various mountainous areas of the country, the incidence of forest fires has increased. Fires have broken out in the mountainous forests of Malakand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Muzaffarabad area of Azad Kashmir, posing serious threats to precious forests and the natural environment.
The fire in Sangina Mountain in Batkhela Tehsil of Malakand has intensified, after which the local administration and citizens have intensified their efforts to control the fire. Local mosques are appealing to the people through announcements to participate in firefighting activities and help the relevant institutions.
According to police officials, various mountain ranges in the three tehsils of Malakand district are currently engulfed in fire. The fire spread in the mountainous areas of Sangina Mountain in Batkhela Tehsil, Jaban Mountain in Dargai and Baizi, Ala Dhand Dheri and Zarkandi Tange in Thana Tehsil, many valuable trees have been burnt, while wildlife is also at risk.
