LOWER DIR: After Pakhtun Digital report the administration has immediately repaired and made functional the ETT (Exercise Tolerance Test) machine in the Cardiology Department of the Headquarters Teaching Hospital Timergara.

This step was taken after a report was aired by the local media outlet ‘Pakhtun Digital’ based on public grievances. Heart patients from Timergara and surrounding areas were facing severe difficulties due to the lack of this basic facility required for diagnosis.

Due to the malfunctioning of the ETT machine, patients were having to resort to private laboratories, where they had to bear heavy expenses, or they had to travel to big cities like Peshawar for treatment, which was extremely difficult for poor and middle class patients.

After the seriousness of the matter and continuous complaints from the public, the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Headquarters Teaching Hospital, Dr. Abrar Lakhkar Khan, took immediate notice of the matter. After a factual report by ‘Pakhtun Digital’ came to light, he issued instructions to the concerned department to immediately repair the machine and restore it for the patients.

After the timely action of the hospital administration, the ETT machine has now been fully functional, which has brought relief to the local patients. Local citizens and relatives of the patients have expressed satisfaction over ‘Pakhtun Digital’ highlighting the issue and the prompt action taken by the hospital administration, especially Dr. Abrar Lakhkar Khan.

Citizens say that this mutual cooperation between the media and the administration can also prove to be a positive example for the improvement of other medical facilities.

In short, responsible media reporting and timely decisions by the hospital administration have made it possible to solve a long-standing public problem, which will save time and money for poor patients.
