Inflation and profiteering continue to weigh heavily on consumers in Lahore, with the recent increase in petrol prices triggering another round of price hikes in essential food items, placing additional pressure on low-income households.

The latest surge in fuel prices has pushed up the cost of daily necessities, including rice, ghee, cooking oil, pulses, meat, milk and yoghurt, making it increasingly difficult for families to manage household expenses.

According to market prices, rice is currently being sold at Rs320 to Rs640 per kilogram, while ghee and cooking oil are retailing between Rs490 and Rs610 per kilogram.

Consumers have expressed concern over the continued rise in food prices, urging authorities to strengthen market monitoring and take effective action against profiteering to provide relief amid mounting inflation.
