SKARDU: In view of the recent law and order concerns and tense situation in the Skardu district, the district administration has decided to keep all government and private educational institutions closed for 2 more days. According to the administration, this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
On the other hand, an important meeting of the Special Apex Committee was held under the chairmanship of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, in which a detailed review of the overall security situation in the region was conducted. During the meeting, the proposal to form a judicial commission to investigate the recent violent incidents was also seriously considered.
Elements involved in damaging and vandalizing government property will be brought to justice at all costs. The committee expressed its determination that the state writ will be maintained at all costs and no one will be allowed to destroy peace.
There will be no compromise on the security of government installations and the safety of the lives and property of citizens. The administration has appealed to the citizens to cooperate in maintaining peace and not listen to any kind of rumours.
