BAJAUR: Terrorists have targeted police personnel on the first day of the anti-polio campaign in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where two policemen were martyred in two separate incidents of firing in Salarzai tehsil.
According to local police officials, unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the security personnel of the polio team in the village of ‘Tabi’ in Salarzai. As a result of the firing, constable Syed Qadir Shah, who was returning from polio duty, was martyred on the spot.
Today is the first day of the anti-polio campaign in the district, and this is the second attack on security personnel in a few hours. So far, two policemen have been martyred in these separate incidents of firing. Security has been put on high alert after the martyrdom of policemen in different areas of Salarzai tehsil, while a search operation has been launched in the area to arrest the accused.
