RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has issued a one-week ultimatum to the federal government over the medical treatment of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, warning that protests will escalate if his demands are not met.

Addressing the press outside Adiala Jail along with the sister of the political leader, Afridi said that despite the repeated requests of the PTI leader’s family members, personal doctors and politicians, no permission was being granted.

“It is very worrying that the founder’s health is getting worse due to his eye problem but the government is not permitting him to move to the hospital,” he added. “We demand the PTI leader to be taken to a hospital with family members and personal doctors around him.”

In case the government ignores his demand, he said that they will once again hold protests in Adiala Jail next Tuesday with more forceful actions.

This ultimatum has been made amid growing tension between PTI followers and the government, with the health issue of the PTI leader becoming the topic of political discourse.
