ABBOTTABAD: City police of Abbottabad have arrested an alleged fraudster accused of defrauding citizens of millions of rupees through fake overseas employment, Hajj and Umrah arrangements.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had set up a bogus travel agency in Havelian, posing as a provider of Hajj and Umrah services, and allegedly extorted large sums of money from unsuspecting citizens.
Several residents of Abbottabad are also said to have fallen victim to the scam.
Police said a case has been registered against the accused, while further investigation is under way, during which more disclosures are expected.
Inspector Muhammad Nawaz has appealed to the public to come forward if they have been cheated or defrauded by the suspect, or if he is wanted in any other police station.
He assured that timely justice would be ensured for all victims.
The city police reiterated their commitment to protecting citizens and continuing action against criminal elements.
