The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has rejected reports claiming that the country’s flagship social welfare programme is being discontinued, describing the circulating claims as false and misleading.
Speaking during an online public interaction BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid clarified that there is no truth to reports suggesting the programme is being shut down.
She said those spreading such rumours were misleading poor and deserving families who rely on the programme for financial assistance.
During the session, a caller remarked that the Benazir Income Support Programme is a national welfare initiative that serves people across Pakistan, regardless of province or political affiliation.
Responding to the comment, Senator Rubina Khalid said BISP reflects the vision of the late former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to support underprivileged and deserving families across the country.
She stressed that the programme is not affiliated with any political party but is dedicated to serving the people of Pakistan.
