LAHORE: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has set a new T20 International record through his achievement of the most half-centuries in T20 International matches.

Babar Azam achieved an unbeaten score of 50 runs during the third T20 International match against Australia in Lahore, which he accomplished by facing 36 balls. Through this performance, he achieved his 39th T20 International half-century, which brought him past India’s Virat Kohli.

Babar reached this achievement through his 139th T20I match. Virat Kohli had previously held the record with 38 half-centuries in 125 matches. Kohli has now retired from T20 International cricket.

Rohit Sharma from India holds the third position on the list through his 37 half-centuries. Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is fourth with 31 half-centuries while Australia’s David Warner holds the fifth position through 29 half-centuries.

Babar Azam currently holds the record for most T20 International runs. He has scored 4,505 runs in 139 innings at an average of 39.51.

Thrilling finish as Pakistan beat Australia in T20 final

Earlier, Pakistan cricket team achieved a historic victory by whitewashing Australia in the T20 series. They clinched the third and final match by a staggering 111 runs, completely dominating their opponent throughout the series.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 207 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Saim Ayub’s impressive innings drew significant attention as he scored 56 runs with an aggressive style. Captain Babar Azam also contributed importantly with a solid innings of 50 runs, helping the team reach a strong total.

In pursuit of the target of 208 runs, the Australian team faltered completely, getting bowled out for just 96 runs. Pakistan’s exceptional bowling performance left the Australian batsmen with no options. All-rounder Muhammad Nawaz delivered the best bowling performance of his career, taking 5 wickets for only 18 runs, which played a crucial role in dismantling the Australian team.

Additionally, in the Under-19 World Cup Super-Six stage, India set Pakistan a target of 253 runs to win.

By winning the T20 series against Australia after a gap of 7 years, Pakistan has made history, and the credit for this victory goes to the outstanding performance of the entire team.
