ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a public warning after a new online scam emerged in which fraudsters are targeting residents through fake e-challan alerts sent via SMS and WhatsApp.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the traffic police said scammers are circulating fraudulent messages claiming to be official traffic violation notices.

These messages contain suspicious links designed to deceive recipients.According to the police, clicking on these links redirects users to fake websites that may steal personal information, banking credentials, and other sensitive data.
The traffic police urged citizens not to click on unverified links, avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown sources, and verify all e-challan notifications only through official government channels.
Authorities stressed that exercising caution and following basic cyber safety measures can help protect the public from online fraud and cyber scams.
