ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices for consumers across the country by Rs2.06 per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment and by 52 paise per unit under the quarterly adjustment.
According to NEPRA notification, the Rs2.06 per-unit increase has been approved under the monthly fuel price adjustment for July 2026. The increase will be reflected in electricity bills issued in September. The monthly adjustment will impose an additional burden of around Rs33 billion on electricity consumers across the country.
Separately, NEPRA approved an increase of 52 paise per unit under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026. NEPRA has forwarded the quarterly adjustment decision to the federal government. The increase will apply for three months, from September to November 2026, and will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers.
According to NEPRA, the quarterly adjustment will place an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on electricity consumers. The two adjustments will collectively impose an additional financial burden of around Rs45.67 billion on consumers.
The Rs2.06 per-unit monthly fuel adjustment will be included in September 2026 electricity bills, while the 52-paisa quarterly adjustment will be reflected in bills for September, October and November. NEPRA has issued the formal notification for the increases, meaning consumers will have to pay the additional charges in their electricity bills from September 2026.
