MIRANSHAH: Unknown persons gunned down tribal leader Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar was present in his village when unknown assailants opened firing on him on Friday morning.

The law and order situation in the North Waziristan region has once again become tense. Prominent tribal leader Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar of Darpa Khel was killed in firing by unknown armed persons. According to sources, Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar was attacked when he was in his area. Unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire on him, as a result of which he died on the spot. Immediately after the incident, rescue teams and locals shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for necessary action.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot. Police officials say that the area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched. Important evidence has been collected from the spot. According to police sources, the incident is being investigated from various angles to find out the motives of the attack.

The sudden death of the tribal leader has sparked outrage in the area. Local elders have strongly condemned the incident and demanded that the killers be immediately arrested and brought to justice and that law and order be ensured in the area. Police say that preliminary investigations are underway and the suspects will be identified soon.
