LAHORE: Police on Sunday arrested Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, from her residence in Lahore.

According to sources, Aleema Khan was taken into custody from her residence at Upper Mall following the issuance of a detention order under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO). Media reports said the order was issued by the deputy commissioner on a request from police, who cited concerns about a possible threat to public order.

After her arrest, Aleema Khan was taken to Lytton police station, while her vehicle was also parked there. Officials will decide, in accordance with district government orders, whether to shift her to Kot Lakhpat Jail or Central Jail.

Authorities will also determine the period of her detention under the MPO order and whether she will be arrested in connection with any separate case. The development comes as PTI has announced a march towards Islamabad on September 27.

Meanwhile, a special medical team completed a medical examination of Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
According to jail sources, the medical team, headed by Dr Arif Khan of PIMS Hospital, has left the jail. The team included a PIMS ophthalmologist and other doctors, along with paramedical staff and medical equipment required for the examination.
