KASHMIR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police, while taking action as per the law to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens during the last eighteen hours, said that 72 people associated with the unlawful Awami Action Committee (JAAC) have been arrested.
During the initial operation, weapons, prohibited equipment, inflammatory materials/statements, materials related to plans to disrupt public order, organized procedures and records of protest and violent groups, and evidence of suspicious contacts with foreign individuals were also found from the arrested people.
The investigation of which is ongoing as per the law. Initial evidence shows that some elements were planning to disrupt public order, affect the administrative process, damage public and private property, spread incitement against state institutions, and paralyze normal life through an unconstitutional and violent agenda in the name of public issues.
The police and related agencies are reviewing all information, recovered material and digital evidence and links as per legal requirements. The IG Police Azad Jammu and Kashmir has clarified that peaceful protests, opinions, constitutional demands and legal protests are respected in the state.
However, no person, group or element involved in illegal activities will be allowed to resort to violence, incitement, use of weapons, block roads, damage public property or affect the normal life of citizens. The law will act without discrimination against those who disturb public peace, and those arrested will have to face investigation, remand and punishment proceedings as per constitutional and legal procedures.
The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are appealed to remain peaceful, not believe in rumors and inflammatory material, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, limit unnecessary movement, stay away from sensitive places and illegal gatherings, and avoid participating in the activities of any team/organization/group involved in any unpeaceful or illegal activity.
Suspicious activity, armed elements, provocative plans, public order disturbance should be reported immediately to the nearest police station or the concerned administration. Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police is fully prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens, state peace, law and order and public order. Of course, all roads and markets should be open. No attempt to disturb the peace, incite violence or incite the public towards unconstitutional activities in the state will be allowed to succeed.
