A shocking scandal has emerged in Canada where a former Air Canada captain is accused of operating hundreds of domestic and international flights carrying passengers without a valid license for nearly 17 years.
According to Al Jazeera, 59-year-old pilot Geoffrey Wall has been arrested by police on multiple charges, including fraud and the use of forged documents. According to authorities, the suspect allegedly operated more than 900 flights between 2009 and 2025 on the basis of fake or incomplete credentials.
According to Peel Regional Police (Ontario), the investigation revealed that the suspect had a commercial pilot license, but was unable to obtain an “airline transport pilot license,” the highest certification required for the captain of any large commercial aircraft.
Police said preliminary evidence indicates that the pilot misled Air Canada and civil aviation authorities about his qualifications, allowing him to continue flying for years. The suspect has been charged with one count of fraud, two counts of using forged documents, three counts of possessing forged trademarks, and one count of public mischief.
Air Canada responded to the matter by saying that it was taking the matter very seriously, but that passenger safety was not affected because all pilots undergo mandatory training and an annual flight check every six months. According to the airline, no other pilots were found to have committed such a violation after an internal audit, and the person involved was removed from duty and reported to Transport Canada immediately after the matter came to light.
According to experts, this case is extremely unusual and raises questions about the licensing and oversight system in the aviation industry.
