MUMBAI: Another age-fraud case has emerged in Indian cricket, with Under-19 player Rohit Yadav and former Under-19 World Cup winner Ravi Kumar facing two-year bans over discrepancies in their age records.
Leg-spinner Rohit Yadav was part of India’s Under-19 squad for the series against Sri Lanka last July. He played two matches, taking one wicket while conceding 94 runs.
However, a review of pre-season documents by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) reportedly found a 27-month discrepancy in his age records. He has subsequently been removed from India’s squad for the upcoming Under-19 series against Australia.
Rohit had previously been registered as an 18-year-old player.
During the age-verification process, the CAB also took action against 64 other players over discrepancies in their age records.
Meanwhile, Ravi Kumar, who represented India in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup final, was found to have a discrepancy of more than 40 months in his age records.
His age-group records up to the 2025-26 season will also be declared invalid, according to the report.
