PESHAWAR: Credible sources have confirmed that the martyred renowned Maulana Sheikh Idrees had been receiving dire threats from Afghan Khawarij (The term used for terrorists) before he was assassinated in Charsadda district earlier this week.
Credible and independent sources have said that Sheikh Idrees had been receiving threat audio notes and calls from Afghan Khawarij before his martyrdom.
In these messages, Maulana Idrees was severely targeted for his views and support for the democratic system of the state of Pakistan.
The text of the messages received indicates that the Afghan Khawarij had challenged Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idrees’s scholarly position and called the democratic system “Kufr and Shirk”.
The messages adopted a harsh tone and said, “Democracy is cursed by Allah and His Messenger, on what basis are you encouraging this system?” In these messages, Maulana was warned by quoting some of the scholars of the past to repent for his statements and withdraw support for the state.
It has been revealed that the official channel of the Afghan Khawarij had launched a regular and organised campaign against the martyr Maulana Idrees, and this campaign continued continuously until his martyrdom.
This campaign not only targeted their ideology but also attempted to target them on a public level. Meanwhile, security experts say that these messages received from Afghan Khawarij and propaganda from their official channels were part of a conspiracy aimed at intimidating and destabilising staunch pro-state clerics.
