MUMBAI: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma delivered one of the dynamic performances in domestic T20 cricket on Sunday smashing a 12-ball fifty followed by a 32-ball century, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash between Punjab and Bengal.

Playing for Punjab the 25-year-old launched an attack on the Bengal bowlers astonishing the crowd and breaking several records. Sharma achieved his fifty in 12 balls. The joint second-quickest half-century by an Indian batsman, in men’s T20 cricket.

Not halting at that point the assertive batsman surged to a century in 32 deliveries achieving his eighth T20 hundred and equalling the sixth-quickest ton ever recorded in T20 cricket.

Sharma ultimately scored 148 runs from 52 deliveries, an innings highlighted by 16 sixes and 8 fours, rendering Bengal’s bowling powerless.

As‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ a result of his innings, Punjab made a huge total of 310 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs which is the second-highest total ever in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Bengal, on the other hand, attempting to chase the target, lacked the necessary ignition to get the job done and thus they finished their 20 overs with 198 runs for the loss of 9 ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌wickets. Consequently, they lost by a large ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌margin.

Once again, it is a matter of discussion whether Sharma’s sensational performance can be his last hurrah and he should be moved to the international level immediately. He keeps on being the strongest power-hitter in India’s domestic T20 circuit, by far ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌unmatched.
