RIYADH: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had an important one-on-one meeting in Riyadh on Monday which was mainly centered around the mutual cooperation of the two countries. The conversation went on to a variety of topics such as energy, trade, and the ideas for new projects to be able to further raise the economic partnership.

The Future Investment Initiative conference provided the backdrop for the meeting, which was a moment for the two leaders to express once again their determination to maintain close relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Crown Prince was also very explicit about the fact that he is determined to work harder in building Saudi Arabia’s ties with Pakistan, pointing out that cooperation in the different areas of concern is the only way out.

“Saudi Arabia is going to be a partner in Pakistan’s economic development by bringing in more money and optimism in trade,” the Crown Prince said at the meeting.

In motion by members of his cabinet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote a letter to a mutual friend, acknowledging the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries and expressing the foreign-policy moves taking place at the summit level. The two politicians have initiated and agreed upon maintaining deep, dialogue as a powerful weapon to overcome not only the energy and trade challenges but also infrastructure development ones.

An as a result of the deliberations, several Pakistani dignitaries such as Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, and Information Minister Ataullah Tarar were present and took part in the talks. Besides, Ahmed Farooq, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, along with a few prime minister special assistants, also attended the discussion.

It was early in the day when the plane carrying the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif touched down at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and immediately after landing, Riyadh’s Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz welcomed the visiting dignitary with open arms and amid the greetings, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Nawaf bin Saeed al-Maliki was also present to welcome the Prime Minister.

The trip of the Prime Minister is an integral part of the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference attending, which is an essential international marketplace for investment, innovation, and economic development. During this important event, sharif will be representing Pakistan while seeking more collaborations between different countries which will be instrumental in the future of the Pakistani economy.
