LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore is preparing to conduct four annual matriculation and intermediate examinations through a digital system as part of its examination reforms.
Board Chairman Professor Badrul Salam announced the development during a press conference saying that preparations for the transition to digital examinations were underway. According to the chairman, the board has completed a trial of digital marking and is now focusing on familiarising students with the new examination system.
Badrul Salam said the board had completed arrangements for introducing digital examinations at examination centres and colleges. As part of the preparations, BISE Lahore conducted an initial pilot test involving 500 students. The board is now planning to organise a mock examination for 3,000 candidates to further evaluate the system and prepare students for the transition.
He added that students were being informed about the new examination procedures and receiving training on the digital marking of answer sheets. The initiative is intended to help candidates understand the technology-based process before its wider implementation.
During the press conference, the chairman also highlighted an improvement in first-year examination results, reporting a 7% increase. He noted that the improvement was not confined to Lahore, as similar progress had been recorded across educational boards throughout Punjab.
However, further details about the factors contributing to the increase were not provided in the reported remarks.
Several board officials attended the briefing, including Controller of Examinations Tauseef ur Rehman, State Officer Shehzad-ul-Hassan, and Public Relations Officer Tahir Javed.
