ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is ready to distribute free 500,000 Chromebooks among students across Pakistan to improve access to digital education, online learning and technology-based resources.

According to the programme, the initiative aims to help students access online classes, research tools, educational materials and other digital learning opportunities. It is also linked to the government’s broader Digital Pakistan vision.

Under the eligibility criteria, top-performing Grade 9 students from government and public schools in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are eligible to apply. In Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, top-performing students from both Grade 9 and Grade 10 are being considered.

Students from private schools are not included in the eligibility criteria published on the official portal. Eligible students can check their records and begin the application process through the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme portal, managed by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk.

Applicants must select their education board and enter their identification details, such as their CNIC or B-Form number, roll number or registration number, along with their date of birth. They can use another search option if the portal fails to locate their record.

Students whose records are found must provide a recent photograph, the relevant SSC-I or SSC-II mark sheet, an attested copy of their CNIC or B-Form, and an attested copy of their father’s or guardian’s CNIC.

The application instructions specify that uploaded files must meet the portal’s format and size requirements. Applicants should carefully check their personal information and documents before final submission, as they cannot directly edit their details afterwards.

After successful submission, the portal generates a reference number and application slip, which students should download and retain for their records. The portal does not currently display a single nationwide application deadline for all education boards. Students have been advised to check announcements from their respective boards for schedules and further instructions.
