ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has highlighted potential employment opportunities in Austria for skilled Pakistani workers, encouraging qualified candidates to explore jobs through the country’s Red-White-Red Card scheme.
The initiative offers a possible route for Pakistani professionals seeking overseas employment, particularly in occupations experiencing labour shortages. However, applicants must meet Austria’s immigration and employment requirements to qualify.
Austria’s Red-White-Red Card is a combined residence and work permit for eligible non-European Union nationals. It is generally issued for two years and initially allows holders to work for the employer specified in their application.
Eligible applicants may later qualify for a Red-White-Red Card Plus, which provides broader access to the Austrian labour market, subject to the applicable conditions.
According to the employment opportunities highlighted by the BEOE, potential fields for Pakistani workers include information technology, retail, electrical and electronics engineering, driving, restaurant services, and professional cooking and kitchen work.
Eligibility requirements vary depending on the occupation and immigration category. Factors may include educational qualifications, relevant work experience, age, language proficiency and, where required, a confirmed job offer.
The BEOE has also referred to employment prospects for 2027 and a figure of 15,000 cards. However, the exact scope of this figure and whether it represents a confirmed allocation or a broader estimate require verification through official Austrian sources.
Pakistani workers interested in these opportunities are advised to check the latest eligibility criteria, occupation-specific requirements and application procedures through the relevant Austrian authorities before proceeding.
