LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved a ban on the religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), and a formal summary has been sent to the federal government under the decision by the Punjab government, recommending a ban on the party.
According to government sources, the ban proposal was made after the violent protests and incidents of disruption of public order in the past few days. Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari said in a press conference that there is no justification for a protest by a religious party. She said that this protest was held after the Gaza peace agreement. The question is, did the burning of police vehicles solve the Gaza problem? Uzma Bukhari said that elements who stage violent protests cannot be the well-wishers of both the country and the people, under the guise of such activities, damaging law and order is unacceptable in any way.
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari further said that the people of Pakistan are aware and will not be misled by any extremist narrative. Uzma Bukhari thanked the business community and said that she is grateful to the business community for rejecting the strike call. The government will never allow such elements to affect public life.
