JAMRUD: A gathering of tribal elders and residents at Bab-e-Khyber marked a day of thanksgiving following the imposition of emergency and Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with participants holding celebrations and a fireworks display.
The event took place in the home constituency of KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, where tribal elders and residents gathered to express their views on the province’s changing political and security situation.
According to the account provided, the gathering reflected frustration among some tribal residents and elders over the PTI-led provincial government’s handling of law and order challenges, particularly in the tribal districts.
Tribal Elders Express Support for Governor’s Rule
Addressing the gathering at Bab-e-Khyber, tribal elders said constitutional intervention and the imposition of Governor’s Rule had become necessary to address security challenges and combat terrorism in the province, particularly in the former tribal districts.
Participants raised slogans in support of Governor’s Rule and celebrated with fireworks.

Hopes for Improved Security and Public Welfare
Tribal elders expressed hope that the federal government and the interim administration would take immediate steps to restore peace, improve security and address the concerns of local communities.
They emphasised the need for effective measures to tackle terrorism and improve public welfare across the region.
The gathering highlighted the differing political perspectives surrounding the province’s governance and security situation, as supporters of the intervention called for stronger action to address longstanding challenges.
