The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised mobile phone users facing call connectivity issues due to weak signals to use Wi-Fi calling, a feature that allows calls to be made over a Wi-Fi internet connection.
According to the authority, mobile signals often struggle to reach certain areas inside homes, offices and other buildings, making it difficult for users to make calls, maintain conversations or stay connected. Wi-Fi calling can provide an alternative in such situations by allowing users to make calls through an available Wi-Fi network instead of relying solely on cellular coverage.
The PTA said users must meet certain requirements to benefit from the facility. Their mobile phones must support Wi-Fi calling, their mobile network operators must offer the service, and their devices must be connected to an active Wi-Fi network.
The authority has advised users to check their phone settings for the Wi-Fi calling option and enable it if the feature is supported by both their device and mobile operator.
Once activated, the service can help users make calls from locations where cellular signals are weak, provided a suitable Wi-Fi connection is available.
Wi-Fi calling is particularly useful inside buildings and in areas where mobile network coverage is limited. However, the facility is not available on every mobile phone or network, so users should first confirm its availability with their device manufacturer or mobile operator.
The PTA’s advisory aims to help users maintain communication by using Wi-Fi connectivity as an alternative when poor mobile signals affect their calling experience.
