ISLAMABAD: Just weeks after Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max hit the market, online users have begun reporting complaints about changes in the colour of the devices’ exterior finish.

According to user reports, the issue has been observed across different versions of the phones, although the Burgundy variant appears to be more noticeably affected.

Interestingly, the reported colour change does not appear to affect the entire back panel. Instead, users say the discolouration is particularly visible around the three rear camera lenses.

Some users claim the change is not the result of dust, grease or visible physical damage, saying that cleaning the devices has failed to restore the original colour.

The exact cause of the reported discolouration remains unclear. However, one user speculated that heat generated during camera use could potentially be contributing to the colour change around the camera module.

Multiple reports from different users have raised questions about whether the issue is more than an isolated case. However, there has been no independent confirmation of the cause so far.

Apple has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported colour changes. It therefore remains unclear whether the company will offer a repair or replacement programme for affected devices.

This is not the first time Apple has faced complaints over the exterior finish of a newly launched iPhone. Similar reports emerged previously involving some orange-coloured iPhone 17 Pro units, with users reporting suggested that the issue was not reported on the same scale as the complaints now emerging around significant colour changes.

Apple reportedly offered free replacements for affected iPhone 17 Pro devices last year. However, available reports suggested that the issue was not reported on the same scale as the complaints now emerging around the iPhone 18 Pro.

For now, iPhone 18 Pro owners experiencing similar changes may have to wait for an official response from Apple to determine the cause and whether affected devices will be eligible for replacement or other remedies.
