Rawalpindi: The medical report of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan following his medical examination at Adiala Jail on August 10 has come to light.

The examination was carried out by a four-member medical board formed by the federal government, which included Dr. Farqad Alamgir, Dr. Arif Khan, Dr. Akhtar Ali Bandeshah, and Dr. Ali Arif. According to the report, during the check-up, the PTI founder’s anxiety level was recorded as three plus, while his blood pressure was also found to be unstable. To control both, the board advised a daily one-hour walk.

The doctors also recommended that he be allowed regular family visits and provided with newspapers, television and books. The board further suggested increasing his meetings with his wife Bushra Bibi. Sources said Dr. Farqad Alamgir was called from London specifically for Imran Khan’s treatment and that he also changed his blood pressure medication.

His name had also surfaced during recent negotiations regarding the PTI founder’s health. It is learnt that the party leadership and family had been informed in advance about Dr. Alamgir’s visit to Adiala Jail. Imran Khan, 72, has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail since September 2023 following convictions in different cases. His health has been a matter of concern raised repeatedly by his family and party, who have been demanding access for his personal physicians.

The government, on the other hand, maintains that he is being regularly examined by a qualified medical board and is being provided all facilities under the jail manual.
