ISLAMABAD: The ongoing talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) could be adversely affected if the party fails to make timely progress on terrorism-related issues and proceeds with its planned long march, according to high level sources.
Sources said the combination of a lack of progress on the terrorism issue and the launch of the long march could have a negative impact on the ongoing negotiations.
They said that in such a situation, the government could consider other options, although no details of these options were immediately available.
According to sources, progress on issues related to terrorism is essential for the successful continuation and conclusion of the government-PTI dialogue.
The sources said the terrorism-related matters had emerged as a key issue in the negotiations, and a lack of progress on them could make it difficult for the two sides to move forward on other issues.
Further developments regarding the talks and the planned long march are awaited.
