PESHAWAR: Dengue cases are on the rise across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as the weather changes, with Kohat district being declared a high-risk area due to the increasing number of infections.

According to a report, 1,231 dengue cases have been recorded in Kohat so far this year, including 793 cases reported during September alone.

Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a total of 2,039 dengue cases have been reported this year, while 83 cases are currently active.

September saw the highest monthly number of dengue cases in the province, with 1,190 infections reported during the month.

Peshawar reported 301 cases, followed by Khyber with 101, Bannu with 103, and Haripur with 57 cases. These districts have also been classified as high-risk areas due to the number of reported infections.

Despite the increase in dengue cases, no deaths from the disease have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so far this year.

Health authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as the seasonal change creates conditions favorable for the spread of dengue.
