ISLAMABAD: A death rumour involving legendary action star Jackie Chan has gone viral on social media, but the claim has been found to be based on a fake image.
A black-and-white image circulating online features Jackie Chan’s name alongside the years “1954–2026,” giving the impression that the 72-year-old actor had passed away.
As reported, the post containing this image went viral within five hours, getting over 3.8 million views. It shows how fast false news about the death of famous personalities can become popular in social media.
This is not the first time when the rumour about Jackie Chan’s death has come up online. Back in 2011, rumours had circulated about the death of the actor after a heart attack, but his official Facebook page cleared up the matter that he was alive.
The same death hoax surfaced again in 2022, but fact-checkers failed to prove the allegation.
Jackie Chan’s recent public activities also indicate that he has continued to remain active in the film industry. Earlier this year, he attended the Cannes Film Festival, where he spoke about his decades-long career. He was also honoured for his contribution to cinema, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.
With a career spanning more than six decades, Chan has become an internationally recognized star through his work in action and martial arts films. His best-known movies include “Rush Hour,” “Police Story,” and “Drunken Master.”
