Pakistan Army repels Afghan Taliban firing in Kurram Sector

Afghan Taliban positions allegedly opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani civilian areas and military posts in the Kurram sector after violating the border, security sources said.

According to the sources, Taliban positions in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar and Paktia provinces attempted to target civilian settlements and military posts on the Pakistani side. Pakistani security forces responded with fire from across the border, the sources said.

The Afghan Taliban allegedly used heavy weapons, mortars and other arms to target Pakistani border posts.

In response, Pakistani security forces carried out retaliatory fire, targeting several Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive positions with artillery and other weapons, according to the security sources.

The sources claimed that several Afghan Taliban positions were subsequently abandoned following the exchange of fire.

The security situation along the border is being closely monitored, with Pakistani forces remaining on alert and prepared to respond to any further incidents, the sources said.
