PESHAWAR: A vehicle carrying a large quantity of slingshots reportedly headed to Peshawar for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march has been taken into custody by law enforcement authorities, according to police sources.
The vehicle was intercepted on September 23 as preparations were reportedly underway for the PTI’s planned protest and possible long march in Peshawar on September 27, police sources said.
According to the sources, the protest-related material found in the vehicle was destroyed after being set on fire, while the driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized.

The action comes as the PTI has announced preparations for a protest and long march scheduled for September 27. Authorities are taking precautionary measures to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the anticipated demonstrations.
Officials have cited previous PTI protests, saying that incidents of violence, vandalism and law-and-order disruptions have occurred on different occasions. Law enforcement agencies are therefore taking preventive measures in anticipation of the upcoming protest, according to the report.
