ISLAMABAD: To facilitate motorists amid the prevailing situation, a fresh traffic advisory stating about closures and restrictions on several major motorways, highways and interchanges has been issued on Thursday asking travelers to check latest roads position before starting their journeys.
According to the latest National Highways and Motorway Police advisory, the M-1 Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway is closed between Swabi and Islamabad in both directions due to the law-and-order situation. The closure affects several interchanges along the route.
The M-14 is also facing closures and restrictions at various points, while the E-35 Hazara Motorway has restrictions near Jhari Kas and Burhan. The Islamabad Traffic Police had earlier announced closures on the M-14, Hazara Motorway and other key routes from 11pm on September 23 until further notice.
The advisory also lists restrictions on the M-2. Heavy traffic is restricted on the northbound route towards Islamabad, while light traffic remains allowed on the motorway. Heavy vehicles are being diverted towards the GT Road. The N-5 Grand Trunk Road is also affected by restrictions at Attock Khurd. Authorities have advised motorists to use available alternative routes.
Motorists have been advised to remain alert as roads and interchanges may change according to the prevailing situation. The National Highways and Motorway Police has urged travellers to obtain the latest information before setting out and follow instructions issued by traffic authorities.
