All closed motorways across the country will be reopened for traffic at 6am today, a spokesperson for the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) said.
The spokesperson said traffic would be restored on all major routes, including the M-1 Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway, M-14 Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway and E-35 Hazara Motorway.
Commuters will be able to resume normal travel on the motorways from 6am, the spokesperson added.
The closures had been imposed as part of security arrangements ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)’s announced protest and long march towards Islamabad on Sept 27. The NHMP had earlier announced the closure of several major routes, including the M-1, M-14, Hazara Motorway and parts of the GT Road, from 11pm on Sept 23 until further notice.
The authorities had cited law and order concerns as the reason for closing the highways and motorways.
