PESHAWAR: Authorities have decided to intensify action against undocumented Afghan nationals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the suicide bombing and militant attack on Kohat Police Lines, after security sources claimed evidence suggested the involvement of Afghan nationals.
According to security sources, the Kohat Police Lines were targeted during Friday prayers. One of the suicide bombers involved in the attack was identified as Matiullah, who was reportedly an Afghan national. The identification of other militants killed in the attack is still under way, the sources said.
Following the alleged involvement of Afghan militants in the attack, authorities have decided to step up operations against undocumented Afghan nationals in Peshawar and other parts of the province, according to the sources.
Search operations will be conducted in residential areas as well as commercial locations, while authorities are also considering a stricter policy towards people staying in the country without legal documentation.
Security sources further claimed that Afghan soil was being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The sources said a decision had also been taken to intensify door-to-door searches and operations in markets across the province to identify undocumented residents and facilitate their deportation.
