PESHAWAR: An accused arrested in the Kohistan scandal has entered into a plea bargain worth Rs117 million with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), with an accountability court approving the agreement.
According to NAB, accused Khushal Khan agreed to pay Rs117 million under the plea bargain, which was approved by the NAB chairman and subsequently ratified by the accountability court.
The NAB prosecutor told the court that the accused had allegedly received funds from the government exchequer through fake accounts. The prosecutor said a financial liability of more than Rs117 million had been established against the accused.
According to NAB, Khushal Khan deposited more than Rs104.7 million through pay orders and cash deposit receipts (CDRs) as part of the plea bargain.

For payment of the remaining amount, the accused offered one kanal and 18 marlas of property in Mansehra as security.
The accountability court ordered the release of the accused from jail after being informed that he was not required in any other case.
The court also directed the Mansehra deputy commissioner to retain the property offered as security until the remaining amount is settled.
NAB officials said the accused had also relinquished eight benami assets as part of the proceedings.
