ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued official notifications for the transfer and posting of several key civil and police officers across various ministries and departments.
In a major diplomatic appointment, Asim Iftikhar, a Grade-22 officer of the Foreign Service of Pakistan currently serving as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, has been transferred and appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, effective September 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Ahsan Ali Mangi, a Special Secretary at the Ministry of Industries and Production, has been given the interim charge of Secretary for the ministry.
He will handle these responsibilities until a permanent secretary is appointed, following the transfer a day earlier of Saif Anjum, who was directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Additionally, several administrative and police transfers have been executed. Inam-ur-Rahman Malik, a Grade-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan posted at the National Highways and Motorway Police, has been transferred and his services have been placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.
In provincial administrative shifts, Fazal Akbar of the Pakistan Administrative Service (Grade-19) has been transferred from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the Sindh government, while Saleem Jahangir of the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service (Grade-19) has had his services assigned to the Balochistan government.
The Establishment Division has officially issued formal notification orders for all the transfers and postings.
