PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah has announced that the performance of government officers will be directly linked to their postings and transfers, with officials demonstrating better public service delivery to receive preference in future assignments.
Addressing the 10th District Service Delivery Conference on Wednesday, the chief secretary said officers who performed effectively in the field and provided better services to citizens would be considered acceptable to the government and given priority in future postings.
Shah said the performance of field officers plays an important role in strengthening public trust in state institutions. He added that linking postings with performance was aimed at promoting a culture of merit and accountability within the civil administration.
The chief secretary also stressed the importance of maintaining regular contact with citizens, listening to their feedback and resolving their complaints. He said that when officers perform effectively for the public, citizens themselves acknowledge their work, helping establish a tradition of better governance that can serve as an example for future generations.
During the meeting, approval was given for 103 additional beautification and modernisation projects for the next phase, scheduled to continue until December 2026. Each district will be required to complete at least one project.
Officials said that under the Good Governance Roadmap, service delivery against prescribed standards had been assessed through 10 monitoring rounds across the province between July 2025 and August 2026.

The performance of nine departments was reviewed, with eight departments now recording performance above 70 percent, while most had achieved scores exceeding 90 percent.
The meeting also reviewed progress on projects aimed at conserving groundwater and rainwater, as well as further outsourcing of public services. Officials said water-related initiatives had already been launched in districts and incorporated into development projects.
