ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has introduced a digital system to strengthen the monitoring and verification of government employees travelling abroad on Ex-Pakistan leave, according to sources.
The new system is aimed at government officials and employees travelling overseas for Hajj, Umrah, vacations or other personal purposes. Under the revised mechanism, the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued to employees will carry QR codes that can be scanned at airports for instant verification.
The digital verification system is expected to help authorities quickly identify fake, altered or unauthorized NOCs and prevent misuse of official leave permissions.
According to sources, the system has initially been implemented in the FIA’s Holding Department, while other government departments are also expected to be brought under the digital monitoring mechanism.
Under the new arrangement, the overseas travel of government employees on Ex-Pakistan leave will be monitored through the system. Authorities will also keep track of employees who obtain leave for Hajj or Umrah but subsequently travel to other countries.
Officials are particularly focusing on preventing the misuse of Hajj and Umrah leave for purposes other than those stated in the approved leave request.
The introduction of QR-based NOC verification is expected to make the process more transparent and allow airport authorities to verify travel permissions electronically before government employees depart the country.
