The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has been directed not to carry out load management for more than two hours in any area in case of a gap between electricity demand and supply.
IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood issued the directives in line with instructions from the federal government and the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division.
Under the orders, all approved system maintenance shutdowns across the IESCO region have been cancelled. In case of a shortfall between electricity demand and supply, load management in any area will not exceed two hours.
According to an IESCO spokesperson, Chief Engineer Operations Zahid Saleem Usmani has been appointed as the focal person to ensure uninterrupted power supply and coordinate in case of any emergency.
Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood also directed all field formations to make every possible effort to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and resolve consumer complaints related to power within the shortest possible time.
He clarified that individual power faults and transformer-related complaints should not be considered load-shedding. Consumers have been advised to immediately report such complaints to IESCO’s helpline 118.
