Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is facing growing financial difficulties ahead of its planned September 27 long march, with party leadership struggling to secure funds for the event, sources said.
PTI has asked YouTubers supporting the party, particularly those based abroad, to contribute to its funds for the planned September 27 long march, sources said.
PTI members also approached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for financial support, but he reportedly refused to provide funds for the long march. Those who want to hold the long march should bear the expenses themselves, Gandapur was quoted as saying, according to sources.
After seeking support from former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the PTI has appealed to YouTubers who support the party to contribute to its party fund.
PTI leader Shafi Jan urged YouTubers earning dollars in the name of PTI and former prime minister Imran Khan to now support the party financially.
Those earning dollars in the name of PTI and Imran Khan should support the party, Shafi Jan said, appealing to overseas YouTubers to contribute to the party fund.
Sources said, however, that none of the PTI-supporting YouTubers based abroad had so far contributed to the party fund.
According to sources, party members of parliament were asked to contribute Rs50,000 each, but they too declined to provide the requested amount.
The party needs funds to cover expenses for the September 27 long march, including the stage and other arrangements, sources said.
Meanwhile, the PTI has also reportedly failed to pay salaries to employees of its central media office. Sources said salaries of the media office employees have been pending for the past three months despite repeated reminders to the party leadership. The financial difficulties come as the PTI prepares for its September 27 long march.
