ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has issued a warning that during the repairs of an international submarine cable, internet services in the country may face slowdowns or partial disruptions.

PTCL stated that the international cable consortium has planned its maintenance work to repair the repeater which is installed on the submarine cable. The repair work is set to commence at 11:00 AM on October 14 and is projected to take about 18 hours.

A PTCL representative indicated that there were going to be some issues with the internet during that time and that people would have to accept it as a fact. The company requested the customers to be patient and assured that the company would put in their best efforts to reduce the impact.

This planned maintenance is the price that one has to pay to keep the international internet infrastructure serving Pakistan upgraded, so that it is reliable and performs well.
