PESHAWAR: The Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education has revised the syllabus for 9th and 10th grades for the first time since 2006 and has compiled it in a simple and easy manner.
Earlier, teachers and students used to complain that the course was difficult and that some concepts were repeated again and again. Because of this, the course had become longer as well as burdensome.
Now, the concepts that were being repeated have been removed, and the course has been made simpler and easier.
This was a very precise and patience-testing task, which Mr. Gohar Ali, Director of Curriculum and Teacher Education, took upon himself and successfully completed.
All departments related to education and the teaching community have appreciated Gohar Ali, Director of Curriculum, for this great effort.
No More Manual Attendance: KP Introduces E-Attendance in Colleges
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has launched a students’ e-attendance system in government degree colleges, allowing parents to monitor their children’s attendance remotely.
Higher Education and Local Government Minister Meena Khan Afridi inaugurated the system at Government Degree College Peshawar on Thursday. The event was attended by representatives of Zong Telecom, Higher Education Secretary, Director Higher Education, teachers and students.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Higher Education Department and Zong Telecom for the implementation of the system.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Afridi said parents would receive SMS alerts about their children’s attendance. They would also be able to know which classes a student had attended or missed.
He said the initiative was part of the department’s broader efforts to digitise the higher education system and improve transparency and monitoring in colleges.

“The entire attendance record will be accessible to parents, including information about the classes missed by a student,” he said.
The minister said an e-transfer system had already been introduced in the Higher Education Department to facilitate the transfer process for teaching staff.
He said a university ranking system had also been introduced in the province to improve the performance and quality of higher education institutions.
Mr Afridi said the government was also introducing a hard-area allowance for teachers serving in remote and difficult areas. The initiative, he added, was aimed at encouraging teachers to serve in far-flung areas and improving educational services there.
The minister also announced the construction of a state-of-the-art hall at Government Degree College Peshawar.
He said the government was committed to using technology to improve governance, transparency and accountability in the higher education sector.
The minister said the department would continue introducing digital initiatives to improve the quality of education and strengthen coordination between educational institutions, students and parents.
