KARACHI: Former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has claimed that Imran Khan’s Twitter account was being operated from abroad and that its handlers receive directions from Pakistan.
Talking to a private TV-channel, Gandapur said the account was being managed by people outside the country who posted messages based on instructions they received. He further claimed that the handlers sometimes posted content according to their own choice.
Ali Amin Gandapur claimed that former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had suggested giving an extension and NRO to Imran Khan before the PTI government ended. He said that 10 days before the PTI government was removed, former KP chief minister Pervez Khattak called him and asked him to meet.
He said they met at a small park in front of the speaker’s house, where Khattak told him that Imran Khan was not agreeing and asked him to convince him. According to Gandapur, Khattak said that “Bajwa sahib” was suggesting that an extension and NRO should be given to Imran Khan, after which everything would be settled.
The former KP chief minister further claimed that a meeting between JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Gen. Bajwa took place on the evening when Fazlur Rehman’s sit-in ended.
Gandapur said work on a plan to remove the PTI founder from politics had started in November 2020 and that some people were aware of it. Responding to a question about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Gandapur said he had told him to “come to the right side” and leave the reserved seats. He said he already had a ceasefire with Fazlur Rehman and had no objection if the JUI-F chief was ready to join their movement.
