WASHINGTON: Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could be significantly more expensive than its predecessor, with reports suggesting a price increase of up to $200.
According to a report by technology research firm TrendForce, the prices of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could increase by around 10% to 20% compared with last year’s Pro models.
Following the expected increase, the starting price of the iPhone 18 Pro could range between $1,249 and $1,299, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be priced between $1,349 and $1,399.
TrendForce also estimates that Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly expected to be called the iPhone Ultra, could start at between $2,099 and $2,299. Higher-storage variants could reportedly cost more than $3,000.
The research firm attributed the expected price increases primarily to rising memory chip costs. The price of a 256GB memory chip is reportedly around 400% higher than a year ago, while the overall production cost of the 256GB Pro model has increased by approximately 38%.
Even with increased costs of production, Apple may opt not to raise the cost of the products to the customers. As stated in the report, Apple will be able to cover some of the costs by reducing the margin of profits it makes.
On the other hand, the normal iPhone 18 will be rolled out by spring 2027, and the prices will be expected to rise by 10-20%.
The prices of the iPhone 18 series will be announced by Apple during the event that will take place on September 9.
