Pakistan SCO Summit 2026

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to observe International Literacy Day through September 8, with educational institutions across the province set to hold various awareness and academic activities.

According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department, International Literacy Day will be observed across the province from first September to September 8. Schools and other educational institutions will organize seminars, awareness sessions, speech and debate competitions as part of the activities.

Students will also participate in essay-writing and poster competitions, along with various reading and other educational activities to mark the occasion.

The Education Department has directed all public and private educational institutions across the province to arrange special activities in connection with International Literacy Day.

According to the notification, educational institutions have also been directed to submit photographs and progress reports of the activities to the relevant authorities on a daily basis.

The department said the activities aim to raise awareness among students about the importance of education, reading and literacy, while encouraging greater interest in learning.
