PESHAWAR: The federal and provincial governments have issued directives to step up monitoring of government employees participating in political protests and sit-ins against the government.
Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to compile complete details of government employees taking part in political demonstrations. According to sources, agencies have been told to identify government employees who participate in any protest, sit-in, or movement against the federal or provincial government.
Which department the employee belongs to, grade and position of the employee, and nature of official duties they perform. Focus on Upcoming Protests. Special attention will be given to the PTI long march and protest call for September 27.
Law enforcement has been directed to monitor the possible participation of government employees in the march. Similar instructions have been issued regarding Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing protest demonstrations in Peshawar. Details of government employees attending those rallies are also being gathered.
Sources said that government employees participating in political activities and protests may face action under the relevant government servants’ rules and conduct regulations.
All concerned departments have also been directed to take necessary measures in accordance with law and service rules. The move aims to ensure government employees remain politically neutral and do not take part in activities that could affect public service delivery.
