PESHAWAR: The nomination papers filed by the candidates from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and other opposition parties for the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa slot were accepted on Sunday.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s seat had fallen vacant after the PTI’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, tendered his resignation at the party founder’s instructions, Imran Khan.
The nomination papers for the CM position have been accepted after scrutiny, including those of PTI’s Sohail Afridi, who is being considered a strong candidate for the slot with the majority number of members in the assembly.
Sources say that, total of four candidates entered the fray for the Chief Ministership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI’s Sohail Afridi, Mualana Lutuf Rehman from the Jamiate Ulema I-Islam Fazal, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) fielded Arbab Zarak, and the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) nominated Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf as its candidate for the CM slot.
The candidates had filed their nomination papers at the KP assembly on Sunday morning, which were accepted after scrutiny.
