PESHAWAR: An attempt by militants to carry out a drone attack on the Matani Police Station was foiled here on Saturday.
The Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed said that footage had also been obtained showing explosives being dropped from the drone. According to CCPO Mian Saeed, the attack attempt was thwarted due to enhanced security measures at the police station.
A protective barrier installed around the Matani police station premises prevented the explosives from falling inside the station’s compound. The CCPO said no casualties were reported in the incident.
He added that steps were being taken to strengthen the security of police stations in surrounding areas by installing specialised protective barriers to guard against similar drone attacks.
Security measures have been further tightened at vulnerable police facilities following the incident, the official said.
