PESHAWAR: The number of registered voters has surpassed the one-million mark in 47 districts across Pakistan, according to data from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Lahore has the highest number of registered voters in the country, with 7,414,704 voters, while Islamabad has a total of 1,252,287 registered voters.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six districts have more than one million registered voters. The largest district amongst these in terms of registered voters is Peshawar which has a total of 2,251,292 registered voters.
Some other districts having one million plus registered voters in KP are Mardan, Swat, Swabi, Mansehra and Charsadda.
There is no denying the fact that the largest number of such districts is in Punjab province with 31 districts.
In Sindh, voter registration numbers have crossed the mark of one million in nine districts, namely, Karachi Central, Karachi East, Korangi, Khairpur, Karachi South, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Karachi West and Naushahro Feroze.
The new statistics clearly indicate areas of high concentration of voter registrations in various parts of the country.
The ECP keeps updated records of the voter list in accordance with its mandate for any future election.
